MAIN HOSPITAL LAB RECEIVES CAP ACCREDITATION

The main Laboratory at Willamette Falls Hospital has been awarded accreditation by the College of American Pathologists (CAP) based on the results of a recent onsite inspection. The facility is one of nearly 7,000 CAP-accredited laboratories nationwide. The CAP Laboratory Accreditation Program, which began in the early 1960s, is recognized by the federal government as equal to or more stringent than the government’s own inspection program. During the inspection process, CAP surveyors examine the laboratory’s records and quality control of procedures for the preceding two years. They also examined the entire staff’s qualifications, the laboratory’s equipment, facilities, safety program and record, as well as the overall management of the lab. This rigorous inspection program is designed to specifically ensure the highest standard of care for all laboratory patients. “Our staff spent many hours preparing for this and responding to the specific requests of the inspectors,” said Willamette Falls’ Lab Director Mona Crow. “This national recognition is a credit to the ongoing attention to detail and focus on quality service by our employees.” The College of American Pathologists congratulated Willamette Falls on the “excellence of the services being provided.”
